Especially if it’s scored on the greatest sporting stage of all: the finals of a FIFA World Cup.The Goal is a 90-minute documentary feature which tells the stories behind some of the most memorable moments in the history of the world’s greatest game. Drawing on 50 years of World Cup memories, goalscorers from finals past talk about their most important goals. Each goal belongs not just to the man who scored it but also to his team and to his country. Some goals, indeed, belong to the game itself and to supporters everywhere. At the heart of The Goal are detailed and emotive interviews with men who have left an indelible mark at World Cup finals. They talk not only about the goal and the match, but also about what that goal and that game meant; to themselves, to their countries and to football.
